3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. Section 12J.2, subsection 1, Code 2022, is
2amended to read as follows:
31. “Company” means any business or business entity,
4including a wholly owned subsidiary, majority-owned subsidiary,
5parent company, or affiliate of such business or business
6entity, that is publicly traded and that is not based in the
7United States.
8EXPLANATION
9The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
10the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
11This bill provides that public sector restrictions regarding
12companies boycotting Israel pursuant to Code chapter 12J apply
13to a wholly owned subsidiary, majority-owned subsidiary, parent
14company, or affiliate of such company.
