House File 823 - IntroducedA Bill ForAn Act 1relating to certain criteria to be considered in
2determining whether a substantial change in circumstances
3exists to modify a support order.
4BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1   Section 1.  Section 598.21C, subsection 1, Code 2021, is
2amended by adding the following new paragraph:
3   New paragraph.  0l.  A party being convicted or held in
4contempt for a violation of a no-contract order or of a civil
5protective order as provided in section 664A.7.
6EXPLANATION
7The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
8the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
   9This bill provides that in determining whether a substantial
10change in circumstances exists as a basis for modification of
11a child, spousal, or medical support order, the court shall
12consider a party being convicted or held in contempt for a
13violation of a no-contact order or of a civil protective order.
