House Study Bill 147 - IntroducedA Bill ForAn Act 1 relating to a temporary exception to a limitation on

4BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. LIMITATION ON COMPENSATION FOR SCHOOL
2CORPORATION BOARD MEMBERS — FISCAL YEAR 2020-2021
3EXCEPTION. Notwithstanding sections 277.27, 279.7A, and
4298A.15, for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2020, and ending
5June 30, 2021, a member of the board of directors of a school
6corporation may receive compensation that exceeds six thousand
7dollars in the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2020, and ending
8June 30, 2021, for employment with the school corporation as a
9substitute teacher licensed or authorized under chapter 272, a
10food service worker, or school bus driver.
11 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act, being deemed of immediate
12importance, takes effect upon enactment.
13EXPLANATION
14The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
15the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
16This bill allows a member of the board of directors of a
17school corporation (school district) to receive compensation
18that exceeds $6,000 for employment as a substitute teacher,
19a food service worker, or a school bus driver for the school
20corporation in the 2020-2021 fiscal year.
21A school district is a school corporation organized under
22Code chapter 274.
23The bill takes effect upon enactment.
