Senate Study Bill 1001 - IntroducedA Bill ForAn Act 1relating to the crime of disorderly conduct and making

3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1   Section 1.  Section 723.4, subsection 2, Code 2021, is
2amended to read as follows:
   32.  Makes loud and raucous noise in the vicinity of any
4residence or public building which intentionally or recklessly
5 causes unreasonable distress to the occupants thereof.
6EXPLANATION
7The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
8the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
   9Under current law, a person engages in disorderly conduct
10when the person makes loud and raucous noise in the vicinity
11of any residence or public building which causes unreasonable
12distress to the occupants thereof. This bill requires a person
13to intentionally or recklessly cause unreasonable distress when
14the person engages in loud and raucous noise in the vicinity of
15any residence or public building.
   16A person who violates this provision commits a simple
17misdemeanor, punishable by confinement for no more than 30 days
18or a fine of at least $105 but not more than $855 or both.
