3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. Section 35A.13, subsection 6, paragraph o, Code
22020, is amended to read as follows:
3o. Monetary assistance on a one-time basis per recipient
4to be used to prevent homelessness in an amount not to exceed
5one thousand dollars per recipient by providing payments for
6hotel expenses and rental assistance but excluding payments for
7rental deposits.
8EXPLANATION
9The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
10the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
11This bill amends the provision authorizing expenditures
12from the veterans trust fund created in Code section 35A.13
13to veterans and spouses and dependents of veterans to prevent
14homelessness. The bill provides that the one-time monetary
15assistance to prevent homelessness is to provide payments
16for hotel expenses and rental assistance but not for rental
17deposits.
