House Study Bill 550 - IntroducedA Bill ForAn Act 1concerning funding authority for training, education,

3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. Section 35A.16, subsection 3, paragraph a, Code
22020, is amended to read as follows:
3a. If sufficient moneys are available, the department
4shall annually allocate ten thousand dollars to each county
5commission of veteran affairs, or to each county sharing the
6services of an executive director or administrator pursuant
7to chapter 28E, to be used to provide services to veterans
8pursuant to section 35B.6 and for training, education, and
9related expenses of county veteran service officers. Each
10county receiving an allocation shall annually report on
11expenditure of the allocation in a form agreed to by the
12department and county representatives.
13EXPLANATION
14The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
15the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
16This bill concerns training for county veteran service
17officers.
18Code section 35A.16, concerning the county commissions of
19veteran affairs fund, is amended to provide that counties may
20use moneys allocated to each county from the fund for training,
21education, and related expenses of county veteran service
22officers.
