Senate Resolution 26 - Introduced
An Act 1honoring and congratulating Dr.
2Christopher A. Duree and Dr.Linda Allen upon their
3respective retirements as the Chancellor of Iowa
4Valley Community College District and the President
5of Hawkeye Community College.
6WHEREAS, Dr.Duree and Dr.Allen have contributed
752 years of combined service to education in the State
8of Iowa;and
9WHEREAS, Dr.Duree and Dr.Allen have demonstrated
10exemplary service and performance advocating for
11accessible and affordable education to a diverse range
12of students;and
13WHEREAS, Dr.Duree and Dr.Allen have served in many
14capacities as leaders of their colleges, committed to
15developing innovative credit and non-credit programs
16serving more than 37,000 people each year;and
17WHEREAS, under the leadership of Dr.Duree and Dr.
18Allen, Iowa Valley Community College District and
19Hawkeye Community College have established strong
20working relationships with business, industry, and
21education partners;and
22WHEREAS, Dr.Duree and Dr.Allen have demonstrated
23an ability to be responsive to the specific workforce
24needs of Iowa’s businesses and employers to compete in
25global markets;and
26WHEREAS, Dr.Duree and Dr.Allen are recognized
27as leaders among their peers in providing innovative
-1-1skills training for high-demand, high-paying, and
2high-skilled occupations and career enhancement
3opportunities for all workers in Iowa;and
4WHEREAS, Dr.Duree and Dr.Allen have been champions
5for increased access to and investment in adult
6education to close the skills gap that exists in our
7communities;and
8WHEREAS, Dr.Duree and Dr.Allen have been
9recognized statewide and nationally for their support
10of initiatives that promote student success and
11retention related to higher education;and
12WHEREAS, Dr.Duree and Dr.Allen have exemplified
13the true mission of the Iowa Association of Community
14College Trustees (IACCT), and have both been honored
15with the IACCT Outstanding Chief Administrator
16Award;NOW THEREFORE,
17BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate hereby
18congratulates Dr.Christopher A.Duree and Dr.Linda
19Allen upon their respective retirements from Iowa
20Valley Community College District and Hawkeye Community
21College and extends its sincere gratitude to them
22for their dedication and commitment to providing all
23students with a quality education at Iowa’s community
24colleges.
