3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1   Section 1.  NEW SECTION.  232.108A  Suspension of child
2support order — child in need of assistance proceedings.
   3If, at any time during the judicial proceedings following
4the filing of a petition pursuant to section 232.87, the
5custody or physical care of a child is granted to a party who is
6obligated to pay support for the child under an existing child
7support order entered under chapter 234, 252A, 252C, 252F, 598,
8or 600B, or any other chapter, and the party who is obligated
9to pay support for the child notifies the juvenile court of the
10existing child support order, the juvenile court shall issue a
11notice to the appropriate district court requesting suspension
12of any existing child support obligation for the party relating
13to the child. Upon receipt by the district court of the
14notice and documentation that established any such existing
15child support obligation, the district court shall suspend
16the support obligation of the party and the party’s support
17obligation shall not accrue during the suspension period. The
18juvenile court shall also issue a notice to the appropriate
19district court regarding any subsequent order entered by
20the juvenile court transferring the child to an alternative
21placement that may require the district court to reinstate the
22child support obligation of the party obligated to pay support
23for the child.
