2actions involving eagles, and making penalties applicable.
3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1   Section 1.  Section 481A.130, subsection 1, paragraphs a and
2c, Code 2019, are amended to read as follows:
   3a.  For each eagle, elk, antelope, buffalo, or moose, two
4thousand five hundred dollars.
   5c.  For each bird, other than an eagle, or animal or the raw
6pelt or plumage of such bird or animal for which damages are
7not otherwise prescribed, fifty dollars.
8EXPLANATION
9The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
10the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
   11Current law requires a person convicted of unlawfully
12selling, taking, catching, killing, injuring, destroying, or
13having in their possession an eagle to reimburse the state in
14the amount of $50, in addition to other penalties. This bill
15requires a person convicted of such a violation involving an
16eagle to reimburse the state for assessed damages in the amount
17of $2,500, in addition to other penalties.
