3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. COST-BASED REIMBURSEMENT FOR CRITICAL ACCESS
2HOSPITALS UNDER MEDICAID. The department of human services
3shall adopt rules pursuant to chapter 17A to reinstate
4cost-based reimbursement and the settlement process under the
5Medicaid program for critical access hospitals in the state,
6as designated pursuant to 42 U.S.C.§1395i-4, to provide
7reimbursement at the rate provided for such hospitals under the
8federal Medicare program.
9EXPLANATION
10The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
11the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
12This bill requires the department of human services to adopt
13administrative rules to reinstate cost-based reimbursement and
14the settlement process under the Medicaid program for critical
15access hospitals to provide reimbursement at the rate provided
16for these hospitals under the Medicare program.
