3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1   Section 1.  Section 514C.4, subsection 2, Code 2019, is
2amended to read as follows:
   32.  a.  As used in this section, “minimum mammography
4examination coverage”
means benefits which are better than or
5equal to the following minimum requirements:
   6a.    (1)  One baseline mammogram for any woman who is
7thirty-five through thirty-nine years of age, or more frequent
8mammograms if recommended by the woman’s physician.
   9b.    (2)  A mammogram every two years for any woman who is
10forty through forty-nine years of age, or more frequently if
11recommended by the woman’s physician.
   12c.    (3)  A mammogram every year for any woman who is fifty
13years of age or older, or more frequently if recommended by the
14woman’s physician.
   15b.  For purposes of this section, “minimum mammography
16examination coverage”
shall include coverage of
17three-dimensional mammography.
18   Sec. 2.  APPLICABILITY.  This Act applies to third-party
19payment provider policies or contracts issued for delivery,
20continued, or renewed in this state on or after January 1,
212020.
22EXPLANATION
23The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
24the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
   25This bill provides that mandated health care coverage
26benefits for mammography must include coverage of
27three-dimensional mammography. The bill is applicable to
28third-party payment provider policies or contracts issued for
29delivery, continued, or renewed in this state on or after
30January 1, 2020.
