3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES — PROMOTION OF
2STATE FAMILY PLANNING SERVICES PROGRAM — APPROPRIATION. For
3the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2019, and ending June 30,
42020, there is appropriated from the general fund of the state
5to the department of human services the following amount, or so
6much thereof as is necessary, for the purposes designated:
7To develop and administer a public awareness campaign for
8the state family planning services program created in section
9217.41B to promote participation in and increase access to
10the services provided under the program by targeting eligible
11individuals and potential service providers:

13 The department shall submit a report regarding the details
14and outcomes of the public awareness campaign to the governor
15and the general assembly by October 1, 2020.
16EXPLANATION
17The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
18the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
19This bill appropriates $100,000 to the department of human
20services (DHS) to develop and administer a public awareness
21campaign for the state family planning services program to
22promote participation in and increase access to the services
23provided under the program by targeting eligible individuals
24and potential service providers. The bill requires DHS to
25submit a report regarding the details and outcomes of the
26public awareness campaign to the governor and the general
27assembly by October 1, 2020.
