T. M. Thompson was born in 1904 in Eagle Grove, Wright County. He lived in Creston and was a farmer, a court reporter, and operated the Iowana Hotel in Creston. Thompson was elected for the Fiftieth Extraordinary Session in 1944 to fill the vacancy of Stephen R. Emerson of Union County. He was elected to serve only in a single session. He resigned later that spring to accept the appointment as federal district court reporter for the southern Iowa district. He died in Newmanstown, Pennsylvania, in 1984.
