Convention Member Henry Haun

Born January 18, 1815, in Scott County, Kentucky. Mr. Haun was an attorney and gentleman farmer. He married his cousin Catherine Margaret Haun on October 25, 1848, in Clinton, Iowa. Mr. Haun served as a Delegate to the Iowa State Constitutional Convention in 1846 and State Court Judge in 1851. By 1853, the couple had removed to California and was settled on a ranch outside Marysville where they grew fruit, and Mr. Haun had a thriving local law practice. He was later elected as a judge and in 1859 was appointed by Governor Bigler to serve out Senator Broderick’s term, after his death in a duel. Mr. Haun served as a U.S. Senator from November 1859 – February 1860. He died June 6, 1860, in Marysville, California.
