Born March 8, 1778, in Litchfield County, Connecticut. Mr. Dibble came to Iowa in 1838 and located in Van Buren County where his ability and worth were soon recognized and he was made a member of the second constitutional convention held in Iowa City in 1846. He held the responsible office of County Judge under the old law which was changed in 1860. He also served in the New York legislature before coming to Iowa. He attained considerable prominence in his section of the state and was respected by all who knew him. He was a tall spare man of genial disposition and vigorous mind in politics a war democrat and in religion a Universalist. He reared a family of six children and died on October 13, 1864, at Utica, Iowa, when about eighty-six years of age.
