Convention Member Luman Strong
Born October 24, 1803, in Orange County, Vermont, and from there to Ohio. He removed to Iowa County, Wisconsin where he became a successful practitioner of law and a member of legislature of that State. He married Miss Mary Gabbert October 30, 1837, in Scott County, Iowa. He was one of the first settlers in Linn County, and a potential factor in all Linn County affairs and acted as Justice of the Peace and County Commissioner. He was a delegate to the 1844 Constitutional Convention representing Linn County in Iowa City. Mr. Strong died in Dodgeville, Iowa County, Wisconsin, December 4, 1867, and is interred at Eastside Cemetery.
