S.F. 2233 Section 1. Section 355.5, subsection 4, Code 2022, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 4. Distances shall be shown in decimal feet in accordance 3 with the federal definition of the U. S. survey a foot at the 4 time the survey is performed . Distance measurements shall 5 refer to the horizontal plane. 6 Sec. 2. Section 355.16, Code 2022, is amended to read as 7 follows: 8 355.16 Iowa plane coordinate system defined. 9 The Iowa plane coordinate system may be used for the purpose 10 of conducting official surveys, as defined by the United States 11 national geodetic survey or a successor agency. As used in this 12 subchapter, unless the context otherwise requires section , “Iowa 13 plane coordinate system” or “coordinate system” means the system 14 of plane coordinates established by the United States national 15 ocean survey, or the United States national geodetic survey, 16 or a successor agency, for defining and stating the geographic 17 positions or locations of points on the surface of the earth 18 within the state of Iowa that is in use at the time the survey 19 is performed . 20 Sec. 3.
