a
person
who

the
equivalent
meaning
in
another
spoken

language.

proficient”

adequately

or

an
administrative
agency

may
adopt
rules
differing
from
those
of

the
supreme
court
governing

qualifications

compensation

interpreters
or
translators
appearing
in
proceedings

fluent
in

transliterating,
paraphrasing,
and
voicing.

an

from

The
supreme
court,

need.

When
a
deaf

hard-of-hearing
person
is
entitled
to
an

deaf

person

notify

presiding
official
within
three
days

notice
of
the
proceeding,
stating
the
disability
and

requesting
the
services
of
an

receives

than

days
prior

notify
the
presiding
official

services

human
rights

continually
update
a
listing

qualified

interpreters.

courts
and

agencies
shall
maintain

directory

qualified

interpreters
for
deaf
and
hard-of-hearing
persons
as
furnished

by
the
department
of
human
rights.
The
office
of
deaf
services

maintain
a
list
of
sign
language
interpreters
which

available

to

services
