Section
1.
Section
321.384,
Code
2018,
is
amended
to
read
1
as
follows:

321.384
When
lighted
lamps
required.
3
1.
Every
motor
vehicle
upon
operated
on
a
highway
within
the
4
state,
at
any
time
from
sunset
to
sunrise,
and
at
such
other
5
times
when
conditions
such
as
during
any
period
of
fog,
snow,
6
sleet,
or
rain
provide
insufficient
lighting
to
render
clearly
7
discernible
persons
and
vehicles
on
the
highway
at
a
distance
8
of
five
hundred
feet
ahead
,
shall
display
lighted
headlamps
as
9
provided
in
section
321.415
,
subject
to
exceptions
provided
in
10
this
chapter
with
respect
to
parked
vehicles
as
hereinafter
11
stated
.

2.
Whenever
Any
requirement
is
hereinafter
declared
as
to
13
provided
in
this
chapter
regarding
the
distance
from
which
14
certain
lamps
and
devices
shall
render
objects
visible
or
15
within
which
such
lamps
or
devices
shall
be
visible
,
said
16
provisions
shall
apply
during
the
times
stated
in
subsection
17
1
of
this
section
upon
a
straight
level
unlighted
highway
18
under
normal
atmospheric
conditions
unless
a
different
time
or
19
condition
is
expressly
stated.

Sec.
2.
Section
321.415,
Code
2018,
is
amended
by
adding
the
21
following
new
subsection:

NEW
SUBSECTION
.
3.
A
motor
vehicle’s
factory-installed
23
daytime
running
headlamps
shall
be
deemed
to
satisfy
the
24
requirements
of
subsection
1
if
the
distribution
of
light
is
25
directed
high
enough
and
is
of
sufficient
intensity
to
reveal
26
persons
and
vehicles
at
a
safe
distance
in
advance
of
the
27
vehicle.
