Section
1.
NEW
SECTION
.
80.29A
Statewide
land
mobile
radio
1
communications
system
fund.
2
1.
A
statewide
land
mobile
radio
communications
system
3
fund
is
created
in
the
state
treasury
under
the
control
4
of
the
department.
Moneys
in
the
fund
are
appropriated
5
to
the
department
for
purposes
of
establishing
a
statewide
6
land
mobile
radio
communications
system
to
be
administered
7
by
the
department
in
coordination
with
the
department
of
8
transportation.

2.
Notwithstanding
section
12C.7,
subsection
2,
interest
10
or
earnings
on
moneys
in
the
fund
shall
be
credited
to
the
11
fund
and
shall
be
used
for
costs
associated
with
construction
12
of
the
statewide
land
mobile
radio
communications
system.
13
Notwithstanding
section
8.33,
moneys
credited
to
the
fund
that
14
remain
unexpended
or
unobligated
at
the
end
of
a
fiscal
year
15
through
the
fiscal
year
beginning
July
1,
2021,
and
ending
June
16
30,
2022,
shall
not
revert
to
any
other
fund.

STATEWIDE

RADIO
COMMUNICATIONS
SYSTEM

APPROPRIATION.
There
is
appropriated
from
the
general
fund
19
of
the
state
for
the
fiscal
year
beginning
July
1,
2015,
and
20
ending
June
30,
2016,
the
following
amount,
or
so
much
thereof
21
as
is
necessary,
to
be
used
for
the
purposes
designated:

1.
For
deposit
in
the
statewide
land
mobile
radio
23
communications
system
fund
created
in
section
80.29A:

The
Iowa
telecommunications
and
technology
commission

shall
collaborate
with
the
department
of
public
safety
27
regarding
the
deployment
of
the
statewide
land
mobile
radio
28
communications
system
network
and
the
ongoing
operations
of
29
the
network.
The
commission,
as
required
by
the
department,
30
shall
provide
project
management
regarding
the
technical
31
network
deployment
and
ongoing
network
operations,
including
32
the
procurement
of
any
vendor
services
or
equipment
necessary
33
for
the
technical
network
deployment
and
ongoing
operations.
34
The
department
of
public
safety,
in
conjunction
with
the

state
department
of
transportation,
shall
at
all
times
retain
1
overall
responsibility
for
the
statewide
land
mobile
radio
2
communications
system
network
and
primary
responsibility
for

the
operational
policy
of
the
network.

Sec.
3.
EFFECTIVE
UPON
ENACTMENT.
This
Act,
being
deemed
of
5
immediate
importance,
takes
effect
upon
enactment.
