S.F. _____ H.F. _____ Section 1. Section 9E.7, subsection 5, Code 2026, is amended 1 to read as follows: 2 5. Upon request by a program participant, the assessor or 3 the assessor’s staff recorder shall redact the requestor’s name 4 contained in electronic documents that are displayed for public 5 access through an internet site. The assessor and recorder 6 shall implement and maintain a process to facilitate these 7 requests. A fee shall not be charged for the administration 8 of this subsection. 9 EXPLANATION 10 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 11 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 12 Under current law, an assessor or the assessor’s staff must 13 redact the name of a participant in the address confidentiality 14 program from documents displayed for public access on an 15 internet site, upon the participant’s request. This bill 16 extends this requirement to recorders and requires recorders to 17 implement and maintain a process to facilitate such requests. 18 The bill also strikes the reference to the assessor’s staff for 19 purposes of the requirement. 20 -1- LSB 5494XD (2) 91 sc/ns 1/ 1
