S.J.R. 2006 Section 1. The following amendment to the Constitution of 1 the State of Iowa is proposed: 2 Article I of the Constitution of the State of Iowa is amended 3 by adding the following new section: 4 Sec. 26. Medical treatment. The right of a person to refuse 5 any medical procedure, treatment, injection, device, vaccine, 6 or prophylactic shall not be impeded or interfered with in any 7 manner. Equality of rights and liberty in the domain of public 8 accommodations shall not be denied, abridged, or restricted due 9 to the exercise of the right under this section. 10 Sec. 2. REFERRAL AND PUBLICATION. The foregoing proposed 11 amendment to the Constitution of the State of Iowa is referred 12 to the general assembly to be chosen at the next general 13 election for members of the general assembly, and shall be 14 published as provided by law for three consecutive months 15 previous to the date of that election. 16 EXPLANATION 17 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 18 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 19 This joint resolution proposes an amendment to the 20 Constitution of the State of Iowa providing that the right of a 21 person to refuse any medical procedure, treatment, injection, 22 device, vaccine, or prophylactic shall not be impeded or 23 interfered with in any manner.
