S.F. 331 Section 1. Section 483A.8, subsection 7, Code 2025, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 7. The department shall make youth deer hunting licenses 3 available for purchase during the same time period that general 4 deer hunting licenses are available for purchase, including 5 through all established deer hunting seasons. A person who is 6 issued a youth deer hunting license may use the deer hunting 7 license and tag during the season for which the license was 8 issued or in any subsequent established deer hunting season 9 using the a method of take authorized by rule for each that 10 season being hunted . If the tag is filled during one of the 11 seasons, the license will not be valid in subsequent seasons. 12 EXPLANATION 13 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 14 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 15 This bill relates to youth deer hunting licenses and tags. 16 The bill requires the department of natural resources to make 17 youth deer hunting licenses available for purchase during the 18 same period of time that general deer hunting licenses are 19 available for purchase, including through all established deer 20 hunting seasons. 21 The bill allows the youth deer hunting license and tag to be 22 used in the season for which the license was issued or in any 23 subsequent established deer hunting season using a method of 24 take authorized for that season. 25 -1- LSB 2599XS (3) 91 sb/js 1/ 1
