Section
1.
Section
5.1,
Code
2026,
is
amended
to
read
as

follows:

5.1
Commission
on
uniform
laws
——
vacancies.

The
governor
shall
appoint
three
commissioners,
subject
to
4
confirmation
by
the
senate,
each
of
whom
shall
be
a
member
of
5
the
bar
of
this
state,
in
good
standing,
who
shall
constitute
6
and
be
known
as
the
commission
on
uniform
state
laws,
and
7
upon
the
death,
resignation,
or
refusal
to
serve
of
any
of
8
the
commissioners
so
appointed,
the
governor
shall
make
an
9
appointment
to
fill
the
vacancy
so
caused,
such
new
appointment
10
to
be
for
the
unexpired
balance
of
the
term
of
the
original
11
appointee.

2.
Section
5.4,
Code
2026,
is
amended
to
read
as
13
follows:

5.4
Duties
——
reports.
15
The
commissioners
shall
attend
the
meeting
of
the
national
16
conference
of
commissioners
on
uniform
state
laws,
or
arrange
17
for
the
attendance
of
at
least
one
of
their
number
at
the
18
national
conference,
and
both
in
and
out
of
the
national
19
conference
they
shall
do
all
in
their
power
to
promote
20
uniformity
in
state
laws,
upon
all
subjects
where
uniformity
is
21
deemed
desirable
and
practicable.
The
commission
shall
report
22
submit
to
the
legislative
council
of
the
general
assembly,
an
23
account
of
its
transactions,
and
its
advice
and
recommendations
24
for
legislation.
This
report
shall
be
printed
for
presentation
25
to
the
council
the
commission’s
expenses
under
section
5.2
for
26
approval
.
The
council
commission
shall
submit
the
a
report
27
of
recommended
legislation
to
the
speaker
of
the
house
and
28
president
of
the
senate
who
shall
forward
it
the
report
to
the
29
appropriate
committees
of
the
general
assembly
for
further
30
study.
The
commission
shall
bring
about
as
far
as
practicable
31
the
uniform
judicial
interpretation
of
all
uniform
laws
and
32
generally
devise
and
recommend
additional
legislation
or
other
33
or
further
course
of
action
as
shall
tend
to
accomplish
the
34
purposes
of
this
chapter
.

bill
relates
to
the
commission
on
uniform
state

laws.
The
bill
requires
appointees
by
the
governor
to
the

commission
to
be
confirmed
by
the
senate.
The
bill
also

requires
the
commission
to
submit
a
report
of
its
expenses
to
7
the
legislative
council
for
approval
and
to
submit
a
report
8
of
recommended
legislation
to
the
speaker
of
the
house
of
9
representatives
and
the
president
of
the
senate.
