Examination
of
public

records
——
enforcement.

The
board
of
directors
of
a
school
district
shall
comply
3
with
all
applicable
provisions
of
chapter
22.
If
the
board
4
of
directors
of
a
school
district
fails
to
comply
with
any
5
applicable
provision
of
chapter
22,
a
person
aggrieved
by
the
6
board
of
directors’
failure
may
enforce
the
person’s
rights
7
under
chapter
22
pursuant
to
the
provisions
of
chapter
22,
8
including
sections
22.5
and
22.10.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
the
ability
of
persons
to
examine
the
13
public
records
of
school
districts.

The
bill
requires
the
board
of
directors
of
a
school
district
15
to
comply
with
all
applicable
provisions
of
Code
chapter
22
16
(examination
of
public
records).
If
the
board
of
directors
17
of
a
school
district
fails
to
comply
with
Code
chapter
22,
a
18
person
aggrieved
by
the
board
of
directors’
failure
may
enforce
19
the
person’s
rights
pursuant
to
Code
chapter
22,
which
includes
20
the
ability
to
seek
a
writ
of
mandamus
or
an
injunction
and
21
other
types
of
civil
enforcement
mechanisms
under
Code
section
22
22.10.
Civil
enforcement
mechanisms
include
payments
of
23
monetary
damages
by
the
lawful
custodian
who
violated
Code
24
chapter
22,
payment
of
costs
and
reasonable
attorney
fees,
and,
25
for
repeat
offenses,
an
order
removing
the
person
from
office.
