House Resolution 115 - Introduced HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 115 BY GRASSLEY A Resolution recognizing and congratulating the 1 Wartburg College men’s wrestling team on winning 2 the 2026 National Collegiate Athletic Association 3 Division III men’s wrestling national championship. 4 WHEREAS, on March 14, 2026, the Wartburg College 5 Knights men’s wrestling team captured the National 6 Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III 7 national championship at the Alliant Energy PowerHouse 8 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and 9 WHEREAS, this victory marks the 17th national 10 title in the storied history of the Wartburg wrestling 11 program, further solidifying its status as the 12 winningest program in NCAA Division III history; and 13 WHEREAS, the Knights demonstrated overwhelming 14 dominance by finishing with 110.0 team points, 15 a staggering 42 points ahead of the national 16 runner-up; and 17 WHEREAS, individual excellence was highlighted 18 by freshman Kade Blume (141 lbs.) and senior Kasey 19 Ross (184 lbs.), who each claimed individual national 20 championships; and 21 WHEREAS, the Knights’ success was a total 22 team effort, with seven student athletes earning 23 All-American honors, including national runner-up 24 Mitchell Williamson (285 lbs.), third-place finisher 25 Charlie Dojan (157 lbs.), fifth-place finisher Patrick 26 Mullen (133 lbs.), and seventh-place finishers Brett 27 Birchman (125 lbs.) and Cal Dorota (197 lbs.); and 28 -1- LSB 6952HH (3) 91 je/jm 1/ 2
H.R. 115 Caleb Olson and Mike Slade contributing to the point 1 total as well; and 2 WHEREAS, head coach Eric Keller was justly named 3 the NCAA Division III Tournament Coach of the Year, 4 and the Knights’ coaching staff was recognized as the 5 Tournament Coaching Staff of the Year; and 6 WHEREAS, the team’s success on the national stage 7 brings great pride not only to the Wartburg College 8 community and the city of Waverly but to the entire 9 state of Iowa; NOW THEREFORE, 10 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, That 11 the House of Representatives congratulates the Wartburg 12 College men’s wrestling team, head coach Eric Keller, 13 and the entire coaching staff on their 2026 NCAA 14 Division III national championship and honors their 15 commitment to athletic and academic excellence; and 16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That upon adoption of 17 this resolution, the Chief Clerk of the House of 18 Representatives shall prepare an official copy of this 19 resolution for presentation to Coach Eric Keller and 20 the members of the Wartburg College men’s wrestling 21 team. 22 -2- LSB 6952HH (3) 91 je/jm 2/ 2
