H.F. 863 Section 1. Section 462A.12, subsection 4, Code 2025, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 4. No person shall operate on the waters of this state 3 under the jurisdiction of the commission any vessel displaying 4 or reflecting a blue light or flashing blue light unless such 5 vessel is an authorized emergency vessel. 6 EXPLANATION 7 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 8 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 9 Current law prohibits vessels from displaying or reflecting 10 solid or flashing blue lights when operating on waters under 11 the natural resource commission’s jurisdiction unless the 12 vessel is an authorized emergency vessel. A person who 13 violates this prohibition is subject to a scheduled fine of 14 $35. This bill removes the prohibition on displaying or 15 reflecting solid blue lights while operating a vessel in waters 16 under the commission’s jurisdiction.
