H.F. 2077 Section 1. Section 423F.3, subsection 6, paragraph a, Code 1 2026, is amended by adding the following new subparagraph: 2 NEW SUBPARAGRAPH . (6) Additionally, “school infrastructure” 3 includes the increased costs of insurance coverage for the 4 school district that is associated with employing an individual 5 who has been issued a professional permit to carry weapons 6 under section 724.6, subsection 1, paragraph “a” , subparagraph 7 (3). 8 EXPLANATION 9 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 10 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 11 This bill authorizes the expenditure of funding from 12 the secure an advanced vision for education (SAVE) fund for 13 certain insurance costs. Code chapter 423F (statewide school 14 infrastructure funding) establishes the purposes for which a 15 school district may use moneys received from the SAVE fund. 16 Those purposes generally include certain school infrastructure 17 purposes and property tax relief. The bill modifies the 18 definition of “school infrastructure” for purposes of Code 19 chapter 423F to include the increased costs of insurance 20 coverage for the school district that is associated with 21 employing an individual who has been issued a professional 22 permit to carry weapons under Code section 724.6(1)(a)(3). 23 -1- LSB 5173YH (4) 91 jda/jh 1/ 1
