SUBPOENAS.

1.
The
supreme
court
shall
revise
rule
of
criminal
procedure
3
2.15
to
provide
that
any
subpoena
issued
to
a
law
enforcement
4
officer
to
compel
attendance
at
a
hearing
or
trial
must
contain
5
all
of
the
following
information:

a.
The
date
and
time
of
the
arrest.
7
b.
The
citation
number,
if
applicable.
8
c.
The
court
case
number,
if
applicable.
9
d.
The
name
of
the
defendant.

e.
The
charges
against
the
defendant.
11
f.
The
date,
time,
and
location
of
trial.

2.
A
law
enforcement
officer
shall
be
given
a
minimum
of
13
thirty
days’
notice
before
trial.

3.
The
revised
rules
of
criminal
procedure
shall
be
15
submitted
for
legislative
council
review
no
later
than
October

2026.

The
inclusion

explanation

constitute

This
bill
relates
to
the
Iowa
rules
of
criminal
procedure,

including
subpoenas
issued
to
law
enforcement
officers.

The
bill
requires
the
supreme
court
to
revise
the
criminal
23
rules
to
provide
that
a
subpoena
issued
to
a
law
enforcement
24
officer
to
compel
attendance
at
a
hearing
or
trial
must
contain
25
all
of
the
following
information:
the
date
and
time
of
the
26
arrest;
the
citation
number,
if
applicable;
the
court
case
27
number,
if
applicable;
the
name
of
the
defendant;
the
charges
28
against
the
defendant;
and
the
date,
time,
and
location
of
29
trial.

The
bill
requires
a
law
enforcement
officer
to
be
given
a
31
minimum
of
30
days’
notice
before
trial.
32
The
revised
rules
of
criminal
procedure
shall
be
submitted

for
legislative
council
review

than

14,
2026.
