H.F. 158 Section 1. Section 331.304, subsection 13, Code 2025, is 1 amended by striking the subsection. 2 Sec. 2. Section 364.3, subsection 16, Code 2025, is amended 3 by striking the subsection. 4 EXPLANATION 5 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 6 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 7 This bill relates to county and city regulation of rental 8 housing and federal housing choice voucher use. Under current 9 law, a county or a city shall not adopt or enforce an ordinance 10 or regulation that prohibits a person having the right to 11 lease, sublease, or rent out a dwelling unit from refusing to 12 rent out a dwelling unit to a person because the person is 13 using a federal housing choice voucher. A “dwelling unit” 14 means a structure or the part of a structure that is used as 15 a home, residence, or sleeping place.
