S.F. _____ Section 1. Section 392.5, subsection 3, paragraph d, Code 1 2024, is amended to read as follows: 2 d. If a majority of those voting does not approve the 3 proposal, the same or a similar proposal may not be submitted 4 to the voters of the city for at least four years from the date 5 of the election at which the proposal was defeated. However, a 6 council may oversee and change the practice related to hiring 7 a library director and utilize moneys collected pursuant to 8 section 8A.222 by ordinance and without a referendum. 9 EXPLANATION 10 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 11 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 12 This bill relates to city library directors and city library 13 moneys.
