S.F. _____ Section 1. NEW SECTION . 455B.118 Public complaints. 1 A person filing a complaint with the department regarding a 2 potential violation of a law or rule enforced by the department 3 shall include the person’s own name with the complaint. 4 The department may decide whether to investigate filed 5 complaints. If the complaint causes the department to launch 6 an investigation into another person, the department shall 7 share the name of the complainant with the person who is the 8 subject of the investigation. 9 EXPLANATION 10 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 11 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 12 This bill relates to complaints made to the department of 13 natural resources (DNR). The bill requires a person filing a 14 complaint with DNR regarding a potential violation of a law 15 or rule enforced by DNR to include the person’s own name with 16 the complaint. DNR may decide whether to investigate the 17 filed complaints.
