BOARD
OF
MORTUARY
SCIENCE
WORK
GROUP.

1.
The
board
of
mortuary
science
shall
convene
a
work
3
group
to
make
recommendations
to
allow
a
funeral
director,
4
without
first
assuming
custody
of
human
remains,
to
delegate
5
to
a
certified
employee
or
agent
of
the
funeral
director
the
6
removal,
transfer,
and
transportation
of
human
remains
from
the
7
place
of
death
to
a
funeral
establishment
or
other
designated
8
place.
The
work
group
shall
consider
the
prerequisites
for
9
delegation,
including
any
required
training
the
certified
10
employee
or
agent
shall
complete
prior
to
performing
any
11
removal,
transfer,
or
transportation
of
human
remains
pursuant
12
to
this
section.
Members
of
the
work
group
shall
include
all
13
of
the
following:
14
a.
A
representative
of
the
Iowa
funeral
directors
15
association.
16
b.
A
representative
of
the
board
of
mortuary
science.
17
c.
A
person
authorized
to
perform
autopsies
in
this
state.
18
d.
Two
persons
who
are
not
licensed
funeral
directors
19
or
authorized
to
perform
autopsies
in
this
state,
who
shall
20
represent
the
public.

2.
The
work
group
shall
submit
a
report
no
later
than
22
December
15,
2023,
including
its
findings
and
recommendations,
23
to
the
board
of
mortuary
science.
24
3.
The
board
of
mortuary
science
shall
adopt
rules
pursuant
25
to
chapter
17A
to
implement
the
recommendations
of
the
work
26
group.

The

members

the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
the
removal,
transfer,
and

transportation
of
human
remains
by
persons
other
than
a
funeral

director.
The
bill
requires
the
board
of
mortuary
science
to

convene
a
work
group
to
make
recommendations
to
allow
funeral

directors
to
delegate
to
a

or
agent
of
the

bill

the
