S.F. 2301 Section 1. Section 331.301, Code 2024, is amended by adding 1 the following new subsection: 2 NEW SUBSECTION . 23. A county shall not adopt a building 3 code provision concerning fire safety that is less restrictive 4 than the regulations contained in the state building code 5 adopted by the state building code commissioner pursuant to 6 section 103A.7. 7 Sec. 2. Section 364.3, Code 2024, is amended by adding the 8 following new subsection: 9 NEW SUBSECTION . 18. A city shall not adopt a building code 10 provision concerning fire safety that is less restrictive than 11 the regulations contained in the state building code adopted 12 by the state building code commissioner pursuant to section 13 103A.7. 14 EXPLANATION 15 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 16 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 17 This bill relates to fire safety regulation in counties and 18 cities. 19 The bill prohibits a county or city from adopting a building 20 code provision concerning fire safety that is less restrictive 21 than the regulations contained in the state building code. 22 -1- LSB 6042XS (1) 90 lh/js 1/ 1
