S.F. 2142 Section 1. MULTIYEAR CONTINUOUS ELIGIBILITY AND ENROLLMENT 1 —— MEDICAID AND CHILDREN’S HEALTH INSURANCE PROGRAM 2 (CHIP). The department of health and human services shall 3 request a waiver from the centers for Medicare and Medicaid 4 services of the United States department of health and human 5 services to implement continuous eligibility and enrollment for 6 children eligible for Medicaid or CHIP to allow children to 7 remain continuously eligible and enrolled in medical assistance 8 or CHIP without regard to a change in household income for two 9 years after the last day of the month in which the child was 10 enrolled. 11 EXPLANATION 12 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 13 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 14 This bill requires the department of health and human 15 services to request a federal waiver to implement continuous 16 eligibility and enrollment for children eligible for Medicaid 17 or the children’s health insurance program (CHIP) to allow 18 children to remain continuously eligible and enrolled in 19 medical assistance or CHIP without regard to a change in 20 household income for two years after the last day of the month 21 in which the child was enrolled. 22 -1- LSB 5703XS (4) 90 pf/ko 1/ 1
