S.F. 2107 Section 1. Section 154B.6, subsection 1, Code 2024, is 1 amended by adding the following new paragraph: 2 NEW PARAGRAPH . d. On or after the effective date of this 3 Act, an applicant for licensure as a psychologist shall have 4 completed three credit hours of graduate-level courses related 5 to domestic violence. 6 Sec. 2. Section 154C.3, subsection 1, Code 2024, is amended 7 by adding the following new paragraph: 8 NEW PARAGRAPH . d. Domestic violence education. On or after 9 the effective date of this Act, an applicant for a license 10 under this chapter shall have completed three credit hours of 11 graduate-level courses related to domestic violence. 12 Sec. 3. Section 154D.2, subsection 1, Code 2024, is amended 13 by adding the following new paragraph: 14 NEW PARAGRAPH . d. On or after the effective date of this 15 Act, an applicant for a license to practice marital and family 16 therapy or mental health counseling shall have completed three 17 credit hours of graduate-level courses related to domestic 18 violence. 19 Sec. 4. NEW SECTION . 272C.2D Continuing education minimum 20 requirements —— psychology, social work, marital and family 21 therapy, and mental health counseling. 22 The board of psychology, board of social work, and board 23 of behavioral science shall adopt rules requiring a person 24 licensed pursuant to section 154B.6, 154C.3, or 154D.2 to 25 complete two hours of continuing education credits relating to 26 domestic violence as a condition of license renewal. 27 EXPLANATION 28 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 29 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 30 This bill relates to requirements for the issuance and 31 renewal of a license to practice psychology, social work, 32 marital and family therapy, or mental health counseling.
