483A.24,
subsection
2,
paragraph
a,

subparagraph
(1),
Code
2024,
is
amended
to
read
as
follows:

(1)
“Family
member”
means
a
resident
of
Iowa
person
who
is

the
spouse
or
minor
or
adult
child
of
the
owner
or
tenant
and
4
who
resides
with
the
owner
or
tenant
.
A
family
member
may
be
5
a
nonresident.

subsection

paragraph

is
amended
to
read
as
follows:

d.
In
addition
to
the
free
deer
hunting
licenses
received

pursuant
to
paragraph
“c”
,
an
owner
of
a
farm
unit
or
a
10
member
of
the
owner’s
family
and
the
tenant
or
a
member
of
the
11
tenant’s
family
may
purchase
a
deer
hunting
license
for
any
12
option
offered
to
paying
deer
hunting
licensees.
An
owner
of
a
13
farm
unit
or
a
member
of
the
owner’s
family
and
the
tenant
or
a
14
member
of
the
tenant’s
family
may
also
purchase
two
additional
15
antlerless
deer
hunting
licenses
which
that
are
valid
only
16
on
the
farm
unit
for
a
fee
established
by
rules
adopted
17
pursuant
to
section
483A.1
.
The
acquisition
of
a
license
by
18
a
nonresident
under
this
paragraph
or
paragraph
“c”
shall
not
19
count
toward
the
nonresident
license
limits
established
under
20
section
483A.8.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with
23
the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
family
members
hunting
on
a
farm
unit.

Under
current
law,
only
a
spouse
or
minor
child
who
is
a
26
resident
can
qualify
for
the
free
wild
turkey
or
deer
hunting
27
licenses
issued
to
landowners
and
tenants.
28
The
bill
changes
the
definition
of
“family
member”
for
29
purposes
of
free
wild
turkey
and
deer
hunting
licenses
issued
30
to
landowners
and
tenants
to
include
the
spouse
and
both
minor
31
and
adult
children
of
the
owner
or
tenant
regardless
of
the
32
family
member’s
residency
status.

The
bill
also
excludes
deer
hunting
licenses
obtained
by
34
family
members
under
Code
section
483.24,
subsection
2,
from
