H.F. _____ Section 1. Section 455B.173, subsection 3, Code 2024, is 1 amended by adding the following new paragraph: 2 NEW PARAGRAPH . c. The commission shall require a campground 3 with hookups to have a septic system with a use capacity based 4 on the number of campsites that is rated for the higher of 5 either of the following: 6 (1) Twenty-five gallons per day for each camping site using 7 the septic system. 8 (2) The peak monthly water usage of the septic system for 9 the previous year divided by the number of days in that month 10 and the number of campsites. 11 EXPLANATION 12 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 13 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 14 This bill requires a minimum septic system use capacity for 15 campgrounds. The environmental protection commission shall 16 require a campground with hookups to have a septic system with 17 a use capacity based on the number of campsites that is rated 18 for the higher of either 25 gallons per day for each camping 19 site using the septic system, or the peak monthly water usage 20 of the septic system for the previous year divided by the 21 number of days in that month and the number of campsites. 22 -1- LSB 5650YC (5) 90 lh/js 1/ 1
