S.F. _____ H.F. _____ Section 1. Section 80B.11F, subsection 3, unnumbered 1 paragraph 1, Code 2024, is amended to read as follows: 2 Before beginning employment with an employing agency in 3 this state, a law enforcement officer who has been certified 4 in by another state must submit a preliminary application 5 for certification through examination to the council. The 6 application shall be under oath and shall require the applicant 7 to provide any information determined to be necessary by the 8 council, including but not limited to an attestation by the 9 applicant to any of the following: 10 EXPLANATION 11 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 12 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 13 This bill relates to previous law enforcement certification 14 by other states. 15 In reference to the previous certification of a law 16 enforcement officer submitting a preliminary application for 17 certification in Iowa, the bill changes the phrase “certified 18 in another state” to “certified by another state”. 19 -1- LSB 5385XD (2) 90 as/js 1/ 1
