H.F. 632 Section 1. Section 423F.3, subsection 6, paragraph a, 1 subparagraph (3), Code 2023, is amended to read as follows: 2 (3) Additionally, “school infrastructure” includes 3 the acquisition or installation of information technology 4 infrastructure and the acquisition, development, and 5 improvement of school information systems to protect against 6 a cybersecurity event . For purposes of this subparagraph, 7 “information technology infrastructure” means the basic, 8 underlying physical framework or system necessary to deliver 9 technology connectivity to a school district and to network 10 school buildings within a school district. For purposes 11 of this subparagraph, “cybersecurity event” means an event 12 resulting in unauthorized access to, or the disruption or 13 misuse of, an information system or nonpublic information 14 stored on an information system. 15 EXPLANATION 16 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 17 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 18 This bill modifies the definition of “school infrastructure” 19 for purposes of a school district’s authorized expenditure of 20 funds from the secure an advanced vision for education fund 21 to include the acquisition, development, and improvement of 22 school information systems to protect against a cybersecurity 23 event.
