H.F. 530 Section 1. Section 35D.3, Code 2023, is amended to read as 1 follows: 2 35D.3 Rules —— general General management —— rules and 3 operations . 4 1. The commission shall adopt all the necessary rules, 5 pursuant to chapter 17A , for the preservation of order and 6 enforcement of discipline, the promotion of health and 7 well-being of all the members and the management and control of 8 the home and its grounds. 9 2. Operations at the Iowa veterans home shall not 10 substantially terminate without first receiving a majority vote 11 of both houses of the general assembly. 12 EXPLANATION 13 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 14 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 15 This bill prohibits the substantial termination of 16 operations at the Iowa veterans home without first receiving a 17 majority vote of both houses of the general assembly. 18 -1- LSB 1660YH (2) 90 dg/rn 1/ 1
