H.F. 524 Section 1. Section 53.10, subsection 1, Code 2023, is 1 amended to read as follows: 2 1. Not more than twenty days before the date of the 3 primary election or the general election, the commissioner 4 shall provide facilities for absentee voting in person at the 5 commissioner’s office. This service shall also be provided 6 for other elections as soon as the ballots are ready, but in 7 no case shall absentee ballots be available under this section 8 more than twenty days before an election. This service shall, 9 at a minimum, be provided on the two Saturdays immediately 10 preceding an election. 11 EXPLANATION 12 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 13 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 14 This bill requires a county commissioner of elections to 15 provide in-person absentee voting services at the office of 16 the county commissioner of elections on the two Saturdays 17 immediately preceding an election. 18 -1- LSB 2260YH (1) 90 ss/ns 1/ 1
