H.F. 449 Section 1. Section 481A.38, subsection 1, paragraph b, Code 1 2023, is amended to read as follows: 2 b. The commission shall adopt a rule permitting a 3 crossbow to be used only by individuals with disabilities 4 who are physically incapable of using a bow and arrow under 5 the conditions in which a bow and arrow is permitted. The 6 commission shall prepare an application to be used by an 7 individual requesting the status. The application shall 8 require the individual’s physician or physical therapist 9 licensed under chapter 148A to sign a statement declaring that 10 the individual is not physically able to use a bow and arrow. 11 EXPLANATION 12 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 13 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 14 This bill relates to persons eligible to hunt with a 15 crossbow. Current law requires the natural resource commission 16 to adopt a rule permitting a crossbow to be used only by 17 individuals with disabilities who are physically incapable of 18 using a bow and arrow under the conditions in which a bow and 19 arrow is permitted. A person must submit an application signed 20 by the person’s physician declaring that the individual is not 21 physically able to use a bow and arrow.
