H.F. 382 Section 1. DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES —— EXPANSION OF BED 1 CAPACITY AT MENTAL HEALTH INSTITUTES. There is appropriated 2 from the general fund of the state to the department of health 3 and human services for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2023, 4 and ending June 30, 2024, an amount necessary to be used for 5 the purposes of expanding bed capacity at the state mental 6 health institute at Cherokee by an additional twelve adult beds 7 and six adolescent beds, and expanding the bed capacity at the 8 state mental health institute at Independence by an additional 9 twenty adult beds and eight adolescent beds. Notwithstanding 10 section 8.33, moneys appropriated that remain unencumbered or 11 unobligated at the close of the fiscal year shall not revert 12 but shall remain available for expenditure for the purposes 13 designated until the close of the succeeding fiscal year. 14 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act, being deemed of immediate 15 importance, takes effect upon enactment. 16 EXPLANATION 17 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 18 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 19 This bill appropriates moneys to the department of health 20 and human services for FY 2023-2024 an amount necessary to 21 expand the bed capacity of the mental health institute at 22 Cherokee by an additional 12 adult beds and 6 adolescent 23 beds, and to expand the bed capacity of the mental health 24 institute at Independence by an additional 20 adult beds and 8 25 adolescent beds.
