481A.123,
subsection
1,
Code
2023,
is

amended
to
read
as
follows:

A
In
addition
to
limits
imposed
in
subsection
1A,
a
3
person
shall
not
discharge
a
firearm
or
shoot
or
attempt
to

shoot
a
game
or
fur-bearing
animal
within
two
hundred
yards
of
5
a
building
inhabited
by
people
or
domestic
livestock
or
within
6
two
hundred
yards
of
a
feedlot
unless
the
owner
or
tenant
has
7
given
consent.
However,
within
the
corporate
limits
of
a
city,
8
a
person
may
take
deer
with
a
firearm
within
fifty
yards
of
9
a
building
inhabited
by
people
or
domestic
livestock,
or
a
10
feedlot
pursuant
to
an
approved
special
deer
population
control
11
plan,
if
the
person
obtains
permission
of
the
owner
or
tenant
12
of
the
building
or
feedlot.

Section
481A.123,
Code
2023,
is
amended
by
adding

the
following
new
subsection:

SUBSECTION
.
1A.
A
person
shall
not
use
a
bow
within
16
seventy-five
yards
of
the
premises
of
a
school
to
take
or
17
attempt
to
take
a
game
or
fur-bearing
animal.
A
person
shall
18
not
use
a
firearm
or
other
hunting
device,
other
than
a
bow,
19
within
one-half
mile
of
the
premises
of
a
school
to
take
or
20
attempt
to
take
a
game
or
fur-bearing
animal.

The
inclusion
of
this
explanation
does
not
constitute
agreement
with

the
explanation’s
substance
by
the
members
of
the
general
assembly.

This
bill
relates
to
hunting
near
schools.
Current
law
25
generally
prohibits
a
person
from
discharging
a
firearm
or
26
shooting
or
attempting
to
shoot
game
or
fur-bearing
animals
27
within
200
yards
of
a
building
inhabited
by
people
or
domestic
28
livestock
or
within
200
yards
of
a
feedlot.
The
bill
prohibits
29
a
person
from
using
a
bow
within
75
yards
of
the
premises
of
a
30
school
to
take
or
attempt
to
take
a
game
or
fur-bearing
animal.
31
Additionally,
the
bill
prohibits
a
person
from
using
a
firearm
32
or
other
hunting
device,
other
than
a
bow,
within
one-half
mile
33
of
the
premises
of
a
school
to
take
or
attempt
to
take
a
game
or
34
fur-bearing
animal.
A
person
who
violates
the
bill
is
subject
