H.F. 298 Section 1. ENVIRONMENTAL CONTAMINANTS —— HUMAN FERTILITY 1 AND HUMAN ENDOCRINE SYSTEM —— STUDY —— REPORT. The department 2 of health and human services shall compile and analyze 3 information, data, scientific research, and other sources on 4 the negative effects of environmental contaminants on human 5 fertility and the human endocrine system, with an emphasis 6 on intrauterine exposure, and shall submit a report to 7 the governor and the general assembly by February 1, 2024, 8 specifying the department’s findings and recommendations for 9 broad-based policy strategies to prevent and reduce these 10 negative effects through actions and interventions at the 11 patient, health care provider, health care institution, and 12 societal levels. 13 EXPLANATION 14 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 15 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 16 This bill requires the department of health and human 17 services to compile and analyze studies, data, scientific 18 research, and other sources on the negative effects of 19 environmental contaminants on human fertility and the human 20 endocrine system, with an emphasis on intrauterine exposure, 21 and to submit a report to the governor and the general assembly 22 specifying the department’s findings and recommendations for 23 broad-based policy strategies to prevent and reduce these 24 negative effects through actions and interventions at the 25 patient, health care provider, health care institution, and 26 societal levels. 27 -1- LSB 2021YH (2) 90 pf/rh 1/ 1
