H.F. 2478 Section 1. Section 68A.406, subsection 1, paragraphs d and 1 e, Code 2024, are amended to read as follows: 2 d. Vacant lots owned by a person who is not a prohibited 3 contributor under section 68A.503 . 4 e. Property owned by an organization that is not a 5 prohibited contributor under section 68A.503 . 6 Sec. 2. Section 68A.406, subsection 2, paragraph a, 7 subparagraph (2), Code 2024, is amended by striking the 8 subparagraph. 9 Sec. 3. Section 68A.503, Code 2024, is amended by adding the 10 following new subsection: 11 NEW SUBSECTION . 8. Placement of a campaign sign on 12 property owned, leased, or occupied by an insurance company, 13 savings association, bank, credit union, or corporation by the 14 insurance company, savings association, bank, credit union, or 15 corporation is not a contribution unless the insurance company, 16 savings association, bank, credit union, or corporation is in 17 the business of selling signage. 18 EXPLANATION 19 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 20 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 21 This bill strikes prohibitions on the placement of certain 22 campaign signs on property owned, leased, or occupied by an 23 insurance company, savings association, bank, credit union, 24 or corporation prohibited from contributing under Code 25 section 68A.503.
