H.F. 2328 Section 1. Section 455B.173, subsection 3, Code 2024, is 1 amended by adding the following new paragraph: 2 NEW PARAGRAPH . c. (1) The commission shall require a 3 campground with hookups to have a septic system with a use 4 capacity based on the number of campsites that is rated for the 5 higher of either of the following: 6 (a) Twenty-five gallons per day for each camping site using 7 the septic system. 8 (b) The peak monthly water usage of the septic system for 9 the previous year divided by the number of days in that month 10 and the number of campsites. 11 (2) If a campground does not a have metered water source, 12 the septic system of the campground shall be rated for 13 forty-five gallons per day for each campsite using the septic 14 system. 15 EXPLANATION 16 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 17 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 18 This bill requires a minimum septic system use capacity for 19 campgrounds. The environmental protection commission shall 20 require a campground with hookups to have a septic system with 21 a use capacity based on the number of campsites that is rated 22 for the higher of either 25 gallons per day for each camping 23 site using the septic system, or the peak monthly water usage 24 of the septic system for the previous year divided by the 25 number of days in that month and the number of campsites.
