H.F. 2236 Section 1. MEDICAID WAIVER —— PROVISION OF COVERAGE AND 1 SERVICES TO CERTAIN INMATES. The department of health and 2 human services shall submit a request to the centers for 3 Medicare and Medicaid services of the United States department 4 of health and human services for a waiver pursuant to the 5 Medicaid reentry section 1115 demonstration opportunity, 6 created pursuant to section 5032 of the federal Substance 7 Use-Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and 8 Treatment for Patients and Communities Act, or SUPPORT for 9 Patients and Communities Act, Pub. L. No. 115-271, to provide 10 coverage and services to facilitate continuity of care and 11 improve care transitions to the community for individuals 12 who are soon to be former inmates of a public institution, 13 as inmate of a public institution is defined in 42 C.F.R. 14 §435.1010, and who are otherwise eligible for Medicaid. 15 EXPLANATION 16 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 17 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 18 This bill requires the department of health and human 19 services (HHS) to submit a request to the centers for Medicare 20 and Medicaid services of the United States department of 21 health and human services for a waiver pursuant to the federal 22 Medicaid reentry section 1115 demonstration opportunity to 23 provide Medicaid coverage and services to facilitate continuity 24 of care and improve care transitions to the community for 25 individuals who are soon to be former inmates of a public 26 institution, and who are otherwise eligible for Medicaid. 27 -1- LSB 6068YH (4) 90 pf/ko 1/ 1
