H.F. 2207 Section 1. Section 103.19, subsection 1, unnumbered 1 paragraph 1, Code 2024, is amended to read as follows: 2 Licenses issued pursuant to this chapter shall expire every 3 three years, with the exception of licenses for apprentice 4 electricians and unclassified persons and licenses of persons 5 who elect annual renewal under subsection 4 , which shall expire 6 on an annual basis. All license applications shall include the 7 applicant’s social security number, which shall be maintained 8 as a confidential record and shall be redacted prior to public 9 release of an application or other record containing such 10 social security number. The board shall establish the fees to 11 be payable for license issuance and renewal in amounts not to 12 exceed the following: 13 Sec. 2. Section 103.19, Code 2024, is amended by adding the 14 following new subsection: 15 NEW SUBSECTION . 4. a. A licensee who is sixty-five years 16 of age or older may choose to renew a license issued pursuant 17 to this chapter on an annual basis. 18 b. A licensee renewing a license on an annual basis pursuant 19 to this subsection shall complete the continuing education 20 requirements listed in section 103.18 every third year. 21 c. The fee for a license renewal pursuant to this subsection 22 shall be one-third of the fee for renewal of the license 23 established pursuant to subsection 1. 24 d. A licensee shall inform the board in writing that the 25 licensee intends to renew a license on an annual basis pursuant 26 to this subsection. 27 e. The board shall adopt rules pursuant to chapter 17A for 28 the implementation of this subsection. 29 EXPLANATION 30 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with 31 the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly. 32 This bill relates to the renewal of licenses issued by 33 the electrical examining board. The bill allows a licensee 34 of the electrical examining board who is 65 years of age or 35 -1- LSB 5600YH (3) 90 ss/ns 1/ 2
H.F. 2207 older to renew certain licenses on an annual basis rather 1 than every three years. A licensee renewing a license 2 pursuant to the bill shall complete the continuing education 3 requirements every third year, pay a renewal fee equal to 4 one-third of the three-year renewal fee, and inform the 5 electrical examining board in writing that the licensee intends 6 to renew the licensee’s license on an annual basis.
